These are records of the district clerks for District No. 3, Roselle School, Madison and Iron counties, 1872-1893; and District No. 18, Middlebrook School, Iron County, 1909-1914.  Also in­cluded are the visiting records of the county superintendent, 1909-1912, and teachers’ certifi­cates and contracts.

 

The district records include minutes of annual and special meetings of the districts’ mem­bers, minutes of meetings of the local directors, annual enumeration of students, and es­timates of an­nual expenses for the schools.  The records for Middlebrook School also contain expense ac­counts and lists of warrants issued, teachers’ contracts, and the annual statements of the district clerk to the county superintendent.

 

The visiting records of the Iron County Superintendent of Schools contain evaluations of each of the schools in the county’s various districts.  The evaluations describe the physical condi­tions of the schools, their furnishings, and libraries.  There are also brief comments on the effec­tive­ness and control of the teachers.
