This collection contains correspondence, camp newspapers, and a scrapbook pertain­ing to the CCC camp near Lynchburg, Laclede County, Missouri.  There are also a few items from camps in Wi­nona and Sumner, Missouri, and newspaper clippings regarding reunions in 1983 of former CCC trainees in Missouri.

 

This material was gathered by the donor during his term of service in the Civilian Conser­va­tion Corps.  Kirby S. Gunter of Nebo, Missouri, enrolled on 9 July 1935.  He was initially a trainee at Company 3734 at Winona, Missouri, but he transferred to Company 3737 at Lynchburg in 1935.  He remained in this unit until the end of his enrollment, serving as a truck driver and assistant to the motor pool officer.  He was mustered out of the Corps in April 1939.
