- What is a dashpot?
Imagine pushing a bathroom plunger into a bucket filled with honey.
You push down and there is a resistance to your force, but when you
no longer apply a force (uh, assume there is a helium balloon attached
that exactly counteracts the downward force of gravity), the plunger
stays at the level you last pushed it to.
