The Five Regions of Viscoelasticity
Sperling lists five regions of viscoelastic
behavior for a linear, amorphous polymer (the dashed line corresponds
to a polymer with crystallinity and the dotted line shows the
behavior for a crosslinked polymer)...
- The Glassy Region
- The Glass Transition Region
- The Rubbery Plateau Region
- The Rubbery Flow Region
- The Viscous Flow Region
but, he shows two similar graphs, [Sperling-8], Fig. 1.6 and [Sperling-310],
Fig. 8.2, and the numbers corresponding to the five regions are NOT located
the same for both graphs. If you use
one of the two to answer Sperling problem 8 on page 20, and your teacher
uses the other to grade--you lose points. The incoming student probably
isn't aware of the graph on page 310. !@#$
