Grand Master Han has developed this unique martial arts system with roots from a wide range of styles. He is one of only a few 9th-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do currently teaching in the United States. In addition, he holds an 8th-degree black belt in Hapkido, 7th-degree black belt in Kendo, 4th-degree black belt in Judo, a master rank in Kung Fu, and has also mastered many different weapons.
The Youn Wha Ryu System is open to all students interested in training in the martial arts, regardless of previous experience or abilities. Our training helps build self discipline, self respect and confidence, physical fitness, and teaches self defense and protection. The basis of Youn Wha Ryu is World TaeKwonDo style TaeKwonDo. The kicks and blocks from this style are used as a foundation to provide physical and mental conditioning. The Youn Wha system also encorporates aspects from Hapkido, Kung Fu, and Judo, as well as offering opportunities to practice Tai Chi and weapons training.
The Youn Wha system is a continually growing organization, but has a wide base in Texas and Missouri, along with schools in several other states and even internationally. The leader of the organization is Grand Master Han, who you can read more about on the Missouri Youn Wha Ryu site (see the external links section). Master Ceth Jordan is head of the Missouri division, and teaches in Farmington, MO. Both stay very active in the system, attending almost all the testings and tournaments held in the state. Class locations and times are subject to change depending on time of the year, but class meets in the Martial Arts room in the Multipurpose building on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00pm to 10:30pm during the semester.
