E-text Resources

Google Books Best when searching for “Free Google eBooks” – they’ll be old but sometimes still useful.

Internet Archive.  Google books’ chief competitor.  Not as much available yet, but all of it is full view.

Project Gutenberg.  The original ebook site.  Several classic titles for download.

Gallica.  In French – tremendous selection of texts, including journals, critical editions, and incunabula (earliest printed books).  Most titles in French but many older ones also in Latin.  Also, images of some beautiful medieval illuminated manuscripts.

Internet Medieval Sourcebook.  Good collection of primary source excerpts online.  Links to many other eras and topics as well.

Perseus Digital Library.  Excellent collection of texts from ancient Greece and Rome, also Renaissance literature and some very useful dictionaries.

Christian Classics Ethereal Library.  Like the title suggest, a library of Christian classics, including the entire Ante- and Post-Nicene Fathers collection.
