Defending Sensor Networks Against Attacks

A wireless sensor network consists of a collection of sensors, which have the capability of signal sensing, data processing, and message communication. The sensor network is highly constrained in resources. It is used in many different kinds of applications, such as monitoring the battlefield. Most of the applications where different types of attacks occur are security-sensitive. But traditional security protocols are designed for resource rich machines to support large computation and are not applicable to sensor networks due to resource limitations, ad hoc nature and intermittent connectivity in sensor networks. My research issues include:

• Study different types of attacks’ behavior in sensor networks
• Secure routing in sensor networks against different types of attacks
• Key management in sensor networks
• Secure data aggregation
