My fondest mining memories revolve about my coal production
crew at Nemacolin Mine from 1978-1980. We honestly thought that we
were the best.
There
was an advantage to being a superintendent: I escorted the 1982 Coal
Queen, Debbie Tekavec, into Nemacolin Mine.
One of my bosses, John Wilson, is a thinking man (scratching
his neck); here flanked by Charles Fairhurst on the left, and Neville
Cook
and
Mike
Salamon on the right, discussing early research on longwall coal mining
in South Africa.
