Plot

Plot is a fancy engineering way of saying Print.  Plotting your drawing is just that... printing it out on paper.  However, plotting can be done on large plotters capable using the paper required to create a full set of blueprints.

To plot something, select "Plot" from the file menu as you would the print option in any other program.  Alternately, you can use the Plot icon (the one that looks like a printer) on the Standard toolbar.  Also, the "control+p" keyboard shortcut, used in most other programs, will also engage the plotting screen.

This is the plotting screen.  Here you will find most of the standard printing options available in other programs, plus a few AutoCAD extras.

Select a printer from the dropdown menu under Printer/plotter.

Select the correct paper size in the Paper Size dropdown menu.  AutoCAD doesn't use the standard portrait/landscape options that most programs do.  Instead, you'll need to select the correct orientation in this menu.

Also, since you'll want your image to be as large as possible on the paper, you can select "extents" in the Plot Area dropdown menu.  If you already have your image zoomed to fit the screen you won't need to worry about this option.  You can also set up how large your image will print in Paper Space.

For a nice look, it is always a good idea to check the "Center the plot" option in the Plot offset area.
