The Extrude Face tool can
be used to move an existing face; however, this command acts differently
then the Move Face tool.
The Extrude Face tool will
continue to project other faces in the same direction as they were
already going. For example, in the image to the right, the 'front' face
is being extruded, but the slanted face is continued onward so that it
cuts down into the rest of the block. A simple Move command would only
move the 'front' face directly outwards, and the slanted face would stay
where it is and not move at all.
A powerful feature of the
Extrude Face tool is the ability to taper the sides of the Extrusion as
the tool is used. Whether a large taper is needed, or just a small
beveled edge, the Extrusion tool can be used to do advanced features
such as this. To use the taper, type "t" into the command line,
and set the taper angle. The taper angle is the difference in
angle between the taper and the original "straight out" Extrusion.
