Project Phase 5

Option 1

Part 5A - Adjustment Factor Summary

Go through your notes, project submissions, the textbook, etc. and list all of the adjustment factors that we have used or discussed this semester.  You do not have to define them, but you may want to organize them by textbook chapter, NDS chapter, etc.  Indicate which factors could be conservatively ignored.  A table similar to the following is sufficient.

Category Factors Conservatively Ignored
A factor 1 yes
factor 2
B factor 3
factor 4 yes
... ...

Part 5B - Concept Map

Draw a concept map of what you have learned this semester.  The format is up to you, but it may be convenient to organize it as a design sequence or a decision process for wood structures.  You may split the map into multiple, smaller maps if you prefer.  The map(s) can be hand drawn or computer aided.  The following characteristics will be considered during grading.

  1. the number of valid concepts (greater than or equal to 20)
  2. the tree depth (greater than or equal to 3)
  3. the number of nodes with multiple links (interconnectedness)

Have fun with this assignment.  Be creative!  Bullet lists are boring.  Consider this assignment as a way to help yourself, by reviewing the things you have learned and organizing them in a manner that helps you remember them long-term, and possibly as a way to help future students.  Please indicate whether or not your list of factors and/or concept map(s) can be used on the class web site in future semesters...anonymously if you wish.  Please submit a printed or emailed report (or memo) by 4:30 PM (CST) on Friday, May 17.

Option 2

Finish designing your wood structure.  Consider the shearwalls, connection details, etc.
