Dr. Bih-Ru Lea earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Tamkang University in Taiwan, a Master of Professional Accountancy from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Management from Clemson University.

Dr. Bih-Ru Lea devotes her research efforts to interdisciplinary research projects aimed at addressing integration issues and providing insights to improve business performance in the areas of enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM), accounting information systems, manufacturing information systems, information technology, and business strategy. Dr. Lea has performed funded researches for the National Science Foundation, British Telecom, Monsanto Company, and University of Missouri System Research Board. Dr. Lea collaborated and supervised numerous information technology related student projects with major companies such as UPS, GE, Humana, CNET Networks, Inc., Yum! Brands, and Kindred Healthcare as well as non-profit organizations such as Metro United Way, the Jefferson County Public Schools, and the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Revenue Commission. Dr. Lea previously severed as an Assistant Research Director of UPS Center for Worldwide Supply Chain Management for Logistics and Distribution Institute at the University of Louisville, where she coordinated research projects in the areas of ERP, SCM, and manufacturing performance with her industrial experience and knowledge.

Dr. Lea has served as the SAP Campus Coordinator for the University of Missouri-Rolla since 2004, is currently the director of the ERP Center, and is on the editorial board of Production and Operations Management Journal, Journal of International Technology and Information Management, International Journal of Electronic Finance, and International Journal of Business and Systems Research. Dr. Lea is a regular reviewer for many prestigious academic journals and conferences including International Journal of Production Economics, The Engineering Economist Journal, International Journal of Production Research, Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) conference, Conference of Association of Information Systems (AIS), and Conference of International Association of Information Systems (IACIS).

Prior to coming to Missouri University of Science & Technology (formerly University of Missouri- Rolla), Dr. Lea was an assistant professor at  University of Louisville and Anderson College. Dr. Lea has taught classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as to traditional and non-traditional/adult students. To prompt active learning, through hands-on projects and real-world experience, Dr. Lea coordinated constructions of several state-of-the-art multi-media interactive classrooms and brought in many company projects and software grants for Anderson College, Clemson University, and the University of Louisville. Furthermore, Dr. Lea  has extensive experience in curriculum design and planning in the area of computer information systems. In the past few years, Dr. Lea helped to establish a new Computer Information Systems concentration for Anderson College in South Carolina and played a major role in creating a web-based Computer Information Systems curriculum for the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Dr. Lea's other experience include as an research assistant at Clemson Apparel Research Center (CAR) where she participated in various simulation modeling and system analysis projects; a research and teaching assistant at Clemson University, and a research Assistant at Accounting Research & Development Foundation of Taiwan.
