Insitu Block Size Measurement

Using conventional standard joint mapping techniques developed by Noranda Mines, a model of blocky ground is formed using an iterative block splitting algorithm.  The space is defined as 12 m by 12 m zone surrounding an underground tunnel.  The model can be rotated in space, to be viewed from any angle.

From this simulation, an block size distribution can be calculated:

A cross section of the tunnel can be viewed at any position along the tunnel:

Individual blocks can be viewed:

A rock bolt pattern can be added to the problem:

The Influence of each rockbolt can  be evaluated:
