Flat and elongated measurements:

shapea.jpg (8198 bytes)

The measurement of particle shape (flat and elongated in the aggregate business) has long been a tedious manual task using proportional calipers.  An alternative is to use high speed imaging technologies to measure the shape of coarse aggregate particles.

Using a moving conveyor belt, images are passed by two video cameras which image the pieces from two orientations.

The length and width of the fragment are determined from the plan view.

The height of the fragment is determined from the profile view.
Output statistics table showing sizes and aspect rations of 100 measurements.
