• B. (Chino) Srinivasan (Ph.D, 1971) was a Visiting Professor at UMR for the 1977-78 academic year. During his stay, Dr. Srinivasan helped UMR graduate students learn the technique of separating and recovering diamonds, the carrier phase of primordial He, "strange" Xe and Te, from the r-process that occured in the Supernova at the birth of the solar system.

  • Dwarka Das Sabu was a Visiting Professor in charge of Manuel's research program at UMR during the 1979-80 academic year, while Manuel was on leave at the USGS in Denver. In addition to work on the origin of isotopic anomalies in meteorites, Sabu and Manuel worked out the noble gas record of the early Earth and the formation of its atmosphere soon after a Supernova explosion.

  • Kuen-Yuan (George) Chiou (PhD, Chem., 1985) completed his PhD degree in record time and stayed at UMR for three additional years to help maintain the laboratories and supervise the research programs while Manuel was serving as Department Chair. Dr. Chiou's research interests were focused mainly on the determination of chalcogen elements in environmental samples.
