Introduction

Force and Acceleration - We used Newton's 2nd Law directly to relate forces and acceleration.

Best used when acceleration or the value of a force at an instant is desired.

Work and Energy - We integrated Newton's 2nd Law with respect to position to get the principle of work and energy.

Best used when speeds of a body at two different positions of its motion are to be related & the forces involved can be expressed as functions of position.

Impulse and Momentum - We will integrate Newton's 2nd Law with respect to time to get the principle of linear impulse and momentum.

Best used when velocitites of a body for two different instants are to be related & the forces involved can be expressed as functions of time.

Good for studying collisions between bodies and variable mass systems.
