Computational chemistry has gone far beyond the realm of the
theoretical chemists and into the mainstream of most modern areas
of chemistry. This was made possible by significant theoretical
advances as well as the design and production of increasingly
powerful computers. Today, such progress supports the emerging
field of Molecular Modeling.

The UMR Chemistry Department incorporates molecular modeling into
both the undergraduate and graduate curricula. Students have
access to computer systems in the building, including a Silicon
Graphics workstation, Pentium computers, and Macintosh computers.
PowerPC orders have been placed.

Software packages include Alchemy, SYBYL, Quanta, Charm, and
Ampac.
