Objective: To correlate written chemical equations with observations in the lab
and to use characteristic reactions for the identification of unknowns.
The lab also provides practice in balancing chemical equations.

Know:

For a given pair of materials, writing of:

1. The balanced complete ionic equation
2. The balanced net ionic equation
3. Identification of the spectator ions

What physical observations would indicate that a reaction has occurred.
Knowledge of general solubility rules is helpful in determining
reaction products for precipitation reactions.
