Group B – Prepare the diluted ferric nitrate
solution:
1. On Datasheet 1, record the exact molarity of
the Fe(NO3)3 solution
and the KSCN solution.
Be sure to include all significant
digits.
2. Condition a 10 ml pipet with the stock solution.
3. Acquire ~15 ml of 0.0250 M Fe(NO3)3 solution
in a 50 ml beaker.
4. Pipet 10.00 ml of Fe(NO3)3 solution
into a 100 ml volumetric
flask.
5. Acquire ~90 ml of 0.5 M HNO3 in a
dispenser bottle.
6. Using a funnel, add ~15 ml portions of the HNO3
to the volumetric flask
slowly. Stop and swirl.
Then continue with the next
addition.
(Note: When you get close to the fill line,
add the HNO3 dropwise
until the bottom
of the meniscus is on the line.)
