The following is a procedure for exporting and transferring experiment data collected using the Vernier interface box on the Mac computers from the Freshman Labs to another computer
Data Acquisition and Export
- Run the experiment per the lab instructions
- Save the data normally
- Go up to the menu bar at the top of the screen
File/Export Data As A
Select Text, rename file if desired click ok
- Open Internet Explorer, Go to MinerMail
- Create a new message and attach the text file above.
- Click Send
Import File into Excel (PC)
- At a remote computer (CLC, Dorm, Home) log into your email account.
- Open the message containing the exported file.
- Save the attachment. You will probably have to edit (rename) the file and add a .txt extension for MS Excel to recognize it. Save the file to the desktop or to whatever folder you have chosen for your lab data.
- Start MS Excel.
New Workbook
- On the Menu Bar, select Data/Import External Data/Import Data
Browse as necessary to locate the data file, select it and click Open
- A dialog box will open asking about "delimiting" The data file is Tab Delimited make sure that is the only box checked.
- Click ok and the data is loaded into an Excel spreadsheet for graphing or other analysis.
- Save your Excel file when complete.
