LeChatelier's Principle
Help

Know:

Prediction of effect (shift l, shift r) on equilibrium of:

1. Pressure (gases only, individual components or overall system pressure)
2. Concentration (adding or removing products or reactants)

(The above do not change the value of K as long as the temperature is constant.)

3. Temperature (endothermic vs exothermic)-this changes the value of K

Be able to write the equilibrium constant expression for
a given chemical or phase (s,l,g) equilibrium reaction.

(Remember, in chemical reactions, pure solids and liquids
do not appear in the solubility product constant expression,
only species in solution having concentrations, or gases having pressures)

LeChatelier's Principle is discussed in the freshman text:
"Chemistry-Science of Change", Oxtoby, Freeman & Block, 3rd ed.
pgs. 298-305.
