Information on the Final Exam, Math 204

The final exam will be on Tuesday, December 14, 1999, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, in CE 114. It will cover ALL OF Homework Problem Sets 1 through 11 and Exams 1 through 3. More precise information on the various problems follows.

  1. Solve an initial value problem (first order linear non-homogeneous differential equation with non-constant coefficients)

  2. This is a "water tank" problem

  3. Find all the solutions of a second order linear non-homogeneous differential equation with constant coefficients

  4. This is a "spring" problem

  5. Solve an initial value problem (second order linear homogeneous difference equation with constant coefficients)

  6. Find a solution of a given second order linear differential equation with non-constant coefficients, find a second solution using the reduction of order method, and calculate the Wronskian of these two solutions.

  7. Find the first five terms of a series solution about a given point for a given initial value problem (second order non-homogenous differential equation with non-constant coefficients)

The exam is worth 210 points, each of the seven problems is worth 30 points, and 30 points credit will only be given if the problem is completely correct. If the problem is not completely correct but still somewhat correct, 15 points credit will be given. In any other case no credit will be given.
