Peabody Energy visits Missouri S&Tís campus

On Friday February 12, 2010, representatives from Peabody Energy visited the campus of Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Mo., to share their journey of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation. Mr. Gary Kalbfleisch (CIO), Ms. Stephanie Schejbal (Director of ERP Technology), and Ms. Susan Stith (Director of Talent Management) talked about the companyís experience with their SAP implementation project. Prior to the start of the talk, Mr. Gary Kalbfleisch awarded Peabody Scholarships to Daniel Sequeira and Joe Pieczynski for their academic performance and research contributions in the field of ERP. Ms. Susan Stith also conducted an interactive behavioral interview workshop to improve the interviewing skills of the students. The workshop was received highly by those who attended. The event pictures are available here.

The Peabody management team exchanged project and curriculum thoughts with Provost Kent Wray, Vice Provosts Dr. K. Krishnamurthy, Dr. Venkata Allada, and Dr. Henry Wiebe, Dr. Lea-Ann Morton of the Career Opportunity Center, Ms. Mary Bird of the Development Office, and ERP faculty during a luncheon.

The Peabody Management team also attended an ERP project showcase organized by ERP students and provided valuable insights to improve student ERP research and curriculum. The event pictures are available here.

S&T students strategize with Amsterdam class this spring

Coping with a seven-hour time difference between Rolla, Mo., and Amsterdam, Netherlands, is one of a number of challenges facing students enrolled in Missouri University of Science and Technology's Strategic Enterprise Management Systems (ERP 348) class this semester.

Photographers don't need any words to describe things... their pictures do it for them! The Center for ERP is looking for photography hobbyist students willing to voluntarily take snaps of its various events.

Apart from your passion for photography, the only requisites for this position are being a Missouri S&T student and owning a camera.

This position represents a wonderful opportunity to get involved in Departmental activities, enhance social skills, and network. Because the pictures will be published on the Center for ERP Flickr profile, your work will get a lot of exposure. The best pictures might even make it to Departmental newsletters and other promotional materials. Furthermore, it makes for a great addition to your resume.

Peabody ERP lecture and behvaior interview workshop rescheduled to Friday, Feb. 12

Student Ambassadors needed for Center for ERP Reception at Spring 2010 Career Fair (Tuesday, February 9, 2010)

In collaboration with Missouri S&T Career Opportunities Center, the Center for ERP will host a breakfast reception at the school's Spring 2010 Career Fair. Student ambassadors are needed for the breakfast reception which will take place on the aerobic room of Bullman Hall from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 9. Student ambassadors will help explaining the various courses and projects, discussing their perspective and experience with the program, and setting up/closing the reception.

The Reception is an informal mixer hosted by both faculty and students of ERP designed to give employers a better idea of the programs offered by the Center for ERP, the certifications students can obtain through their courses, as well as the projects currently being developed by students and faculty. ERP Program Information Sessions (Jan 21 and 27, 2010)

The Center for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) will hold two ERP Program information sessions, taking place on the following dates and locations:
- Thursday, January 21, 2010, 12 noon to 1:30 pm in Fulton 107A;
- Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 12 noon to 12:50 pm in Civil Engineering 216.

Information on various curriculum paths, ERP or SAP certification options, and career opportunities will be provided in addition to time for questions and answers and opportunities to interact with our ERP faculty.

Seven ERP Co-Op Students Presented at Monsanto Co.

Seven ERP co-op students, including Protyush Banerjee, Shanky Bhandari, Sreehari Chandran, Rachel Kluesner, Anurag Nikhare, Anoop Ramamurthi, and Pam Ryder, presented their co-op learning experience at Monsanto on Monday, December 7. There are currently 18 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) students working as co-op students at various ERP and SAP companies to apply knowledge learned in the classroom at the corporate workplace. Monsanto Company is one of these employers, one which uses co-op students very effectively and requires each student to give a presentation on work done at the end of the co-op session.

Dr. Bih-Ru Lea and Dr. Barry Flachsbart from the Missouri S&T Business & Information Technology department, along with Ms. Marla Smith from the Career Opportunities Center (COC), attended the presentations as guests of Monsanto. The S&T representatives received many compliments on our students' achievements and the quality of our ERP program from managers and Monsanto co-workers who attended the program.

Dept. of Business & Information Technology students to present research projects

The Department of Business and Information Technology (BIT), Laboratory for Information Technology Evaluation (LITE), and the Center for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) would like to invite you to a research showcase scheduled at Fulton 107A from 1 pm to 3 pm on Friday, December 4.

The research showcase, which core objective is to highlight the ongoing research projects by current thesis students, will feature presentations, posters, and live system demo.

The showcase is open to the whole Missouri S&T community. Cookies and soft drink will be provided.

Summer and Fall 2009 ERP course offering schedule is now available

Virtual Team of Grad Students Win International Competition

A team of Missouri S&T graduate students - separated geographically but united via the Internet - matched wits and skills with seven larger teams from the United States and Canada to win the 2nd International HEC Montreal ERP Simulation Game on Thursday, June 12.

All eight teams had one hour to set up a virtual manufacturing company using SAP, the leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software used by companies worldwide. Within this hour, the teams completed initial product design and development, costing, pricing, procurement and production plans, demand forecast, distribution channel selection, and marketing strategies.
