Prestressed Composite Steel-Concrete Beams
Goals of prestressing steel members:
- Enlarge the elastic range of the structure; redistribute the internal stresses or forces; and decrease the deformations.
- Reduce the structural steel weight by the efficient use of high-strength steel.
- Increase the fatigue resistance.
