James Norman Goodier
(1905-1969)

James Norman Goodier was well known for his research contributions to theory of elasticity, stability, wave propagation in solids, and other branches of applied mechanics. Born in England, he studied at Cambridge University and the University of Michigan. He was a professor at Cornell University and later at Stanford University, where he headed the program in applied mechanics.
