What

The gearbox to be considered is a four speed manual transmission from a 1972 Ford Pinto. Each team is to derive the relationships between the angular velocity of the input shaft and the output shaft for all four forward gears and reverse. Teams may use any approach deemed appropriate to determine these relationships.

When

After compiling the requested information, each group is to place its results on the homepage of one of its members. This homepage will be viewed by the entire class on Thursday, July 10 during normal class time.

Where

The gearbox is located on the ground floor in the east wing of the Basic Engineering Building (near the EG10 construction area).

Rewards

Your classmates will be given the opportunity to evaluate your results and determine a grade based upon the following reward structure. Teams members will be rewarded by adding these points to their semester homework score.

As shown, all participating teams get at least one point of extra credit.
