31st IEEE International Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems 8th-11th October 2012. Irvine, California.

Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society

Call for PhD Forum Contributions

In 2012, SRDS will launch a new event - the Ph.D. Forum. This forum provides an opportunity for Ph.D. students to present their dissertation research, including work in progress, to the distributed systems community. The Forum will be organized as a poster session to encourage interaction between Ph.D. students and researchers from academia, Industry, and government. Extended abstracts will appear in the conference proceedings (subject to approval by the proceedings publisher).

Current Ph.D. students are encouraged to submit extended abstracts. The Ph.D. student should be the sole author, although contributions of the advisor and others may be acknowledged in the extended abstract. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to travel to SRDS 2012 to present a poster at the Ph.D. Forum. To foster participation of the young generation to the main SRDS events, a special student rate for conference registration will be applied to the authors of the accepted submissions. In addition, one best poster award will be given to the most innovative idea and the most interesting work presented at the Ph.D. Forum.

Paper Submission

Ph.D. students are invited to submit two-page extended abstracts that describe current research and potential contributions to theory and innovation in distributed systems design, development and evaluation, particularly with emphasis on reliability, availability, safety, security, trust and real time. Extended abstracts should include author's name, affiliation, and email address. Submissions must be PDF files, should be no more than two pages in length (all inclusive) in the IEEE camera-ready format: http://www.ieee.org/web/publications/pubservices/confpub/AuthorTools/conferenceTemplates.html

Papers should be submitted to PhD forum email with subject line as "SRDS12 PhD Forum Submission."
