Abstract
Differential CCD Photometry of six stars, HD 183864, HD 186438, HD 224273, HD 331777, and HD 333251 was obtained at Baker Observatory in the fall of 2008, in search of variability among yellow supergiant stars. The standard deviation of the mean differential V magnitude was computed for each program star. Based on the precision of the measurements, variability is indicated for any standard deviation greater than .01. HD 200803 was used as a control pair. Its standard deviation was .0095. Only HD 331777, a known variable star ( = V 8.06 ) had a standard deviation greater than .01. The other four yellow supergiants are found to be non-variable.
Samuel Crabtree is originally from Pleasant Hill, MO. He is currently a senior in the Department of Physics, Astronomy, and Materials Science at Missouri State University. He will graduate in December 2009 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics, and minors in Astronomy and Math. After graduation, Samuel plans on either continuing his education in astronomy or working for a research company suitable with his degree. Eventually, he would like to work for NASA doing stellar research, and will try to get into the NASA astronaut training program.
