Abstract
In the fall of 2008, I began efforts to increase the amount of NASA outreach done by Missouri State University. The goal was to increase the public's knowledge of Astronomy via various events and demonstrations. This was almost made easy with the International Year of Astronomy movement-a year to spotlight the wonders of astronomy and to commemorate Galileo's use of the telescope 400 years ago. I tended to the curiosity and questions of children and adults alike at events at the Springfield Discovery Center, various area schools, and even at a neighborhood gathering. No two demonstrations were the same and they had to be adaptable to a wide range of ages. This is very much a continuous effort and future demonstrations are being planned and created.
Anastasia Doennig is a Junior from Springfield, Missouri, pursuing a geology major degree and an astronomy minor at Missouri State University. Anastasia plans to attend graduate school and specify in planetary geology.
