Abstract
This report represents the work-in-progress for five years of observations of the variable star PG 1219+534. PG1219 is a subdwarf B star, which is a horizontal branch, helium burning star that has lost most of its hydrogen envelope. By monitoring pulsation phases, of a star like PG1219, over many years, with the aide of an (O – C) diagram, one can track the changes in pulsation periods for the star. Such changes are reflective of changes in internal structure and are a measure of stellar evolution.

Anastasia Doennig is a Sophomore in the Deptartment of Physics and Astronomy at Missouri State University in Springfield Missouri. Anastasia is majoring in Geology with a miner in Astronomy. After undergraduate studies she plans to work for her master’s degree, and then doctorate, in Astrogeology
