Abstract
To stimulate interest in our youth (K-12th) in the areas of math, science, engineering and nuclear energy, including the altruistic benefits found in the applications of these areas and the use of creativity in developing new technology, an annual "Save Our World Contest" has been developed in 2010. The contest is open to all WINNERS.Women in Nuclear's (WIN) Next Evolutionary Revolutionary Scientist (K-12), with a required free associate WIN membership to enter the contest. This year's contest is "Save Our World" from the giant asteroid heading to earth.
Sponsors are the Women and Men in Nuclear (WIN) Region IV Board, the Callaway Nuclear Plant, the University of MO-Nuclear Science and Engineering Institute and Missouri NASA. A team of world experts will be the judges. All submittals will be electronic with the ability to use U-tube and other electronic media for displaying their projects. Cash prizes will be awarded to the WINNERS
Janese Neher received a BS in Civil Engineering and BA in History from University of MO-Rolla. She received a BS in Mathematics and Masters in Education-Guidance and Counseling from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. She also received a Masters in Environmental Engineering from LaSalle University. She is a License Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved Mediator in Missouri. She is employed at the Callaway Nuclear Plant. She received the Ameren Diversity Award in 2008 and the Chancellor Award Honoring MU Women in 2010. She has been Vice President of the Callaway WIN Board, President of the MU WIN organization, Team Lead for the Callaway Diversity Team and is currently Chairman of the Board for Region IV WIN. She is working toward a PhD in Nuclear Engineering and is Missouri NASA grant recipient.
