Abstract
Thermodynamic properties of metal hydrides differ between bulk and nano-sized particles. By adjusting the size of these particles and confining them in nano-porous materials, properties including the hydrogen desorption and adsorption temperature can be fine-tuned to meet engineering requirements for real-world systems. The combined residual gas analyzer mass spectrometer (RGAMS) and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) system can be used to characterize gas desorption, decomposition temperatures, picogram changes in mass, and ionization energies for a variety of materials systems. The description of the processes and recent data collected will be discussed here.
