Abstract
As a part of the co-operative education program at NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, one can apply the knowledge they have gained in the classroom to real-life problems on the job. As a co-op student at Dryden, I worked in the Structures branch, as well as the Flight Operations branch. Both branches gave me a different insight into the aerospace industry. While a part of the structures branch, I was a part of the Gulfstream Quiet Spike project team. My job was to assist in monitoring data during flight testing and compile flight data to plot trends from one flight to another.
During my rotation in the Flight Operations branch, I worked closely with the engineers and aircraft mechanics on various flight projects. I sat in on technical meetings and was in charge of running some of these meetings as well. Other engineers or my mentors would give me design projects, where I was able to teach myself how to use Pro/ENGINEER. Both of these rotations were beneficial to my continuation in my studies to determine what my goals are upon graduation.

Michelle Rader is from Marshfield, Missouri and is a senior in Aerospace Engineering at Missouri University of Science & Technology. She has been a member of the Miners in Space team since her freshman year. This year, she is the president of the Miners in Space Weld Team and will fly for her second time on NASA’s C-9 "Weightless Wonder." Michelle has been a recipient of the Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers scholarship for the past two years. She is striving to be an astronaut, after gaining several years of work experience and a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering.
