Abstract
The Missouri S&T Satellite Team (M-SAT), formed on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus, is a design team whose current project involves the complete design and construction of two microsatellites. The purpose of this design project is to test key technologies for use with spacecraft flying in tightly controlled formations. This project will develop these technologies using two small spacecraft in a "free flying" formation. After insertion into orbit, the secondary satellite (MRS SAT) will be deployed and various data will be collected on the performance of the dual-spacecraft formation. The spacecraft pair will be designed, constructed, and tested by the students and faculty at Missouri S&T. The team is currently participating in a competition with ten other universities sponsored by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. Should Missouri S&T win, their spacecraft will likely be provided a launch into Earth orbit by a Department of Defense
