A game of volley ball with new and old members. Unfortunately, Emily DiGirolamo was competing against a couple guys about twice her height. But she still kicked some butt!
Here we have Musketeer Devin Shannon, Princess Leia Connie Eimer and German Boy Mike Ortmann at The Brady Family Halloween Costume Dinner and Dance.
The ending shot of the airplane move with Helen Burch and Matt Fox.
Some casual, relaxed lindy hop with Courtney Filer and alumni Kasey Davis who teaches lindy in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Alexander (Guam) Litty is not an alum, but he was very involved and dedicated to the club during his time here. Emily DiGirolamo was a recent president and has graduated this past year. Just by that face, you should be able to tell that she is the sweetest.
And of course it would not be an official swing social if there weren't board games (we sometimes get a little intense about it, but it's always a good time).
Amanda (Koenig) Swain is the official founder of the Aerial Swing Dance Club which started up around 2007!! The image to the right is from this lovely couple's wedding from October of 2015. They joined us for practice very often and we wish them a lifetime of happiness!
This eccentric person is largely involved in the club as he drives up from Tulsa, Oklahoma to host Lindy Hop workshops or to just come up for social dances and board games. He graduated in 2011 and teaches Lindy while living the adult life of a project engineer.
Nickname: Fox. This wonderful human being is also largely active. This semester, he has driven down once a month to help with West Coast and speed teach more advanced moves to the ones who are willing to step up. Most of these times he drives down with 20 board games as his passenger (and we play all of them!!) He helps run the new West Coast club located in St. Louis called Destination Swing. Check it out!
This newly wed couple are the teachers who took our West Coast style to the next level. They are now living in Texas with a quickly growing family as they have an adorable baby boy and one more on the way!
This high-energy dancer was president of the club before she graduated in 2018. She now lives in St. Louis with her wife, where she uses her math and economics degree to work as a data quality analyst. She still regularly comes back to the club to teach us new skills, offering workshops in East Coast, Lindy and Balboa. Besides those three dances, she also enjoys West Coast, Blues, Shag, and pretty much anything she gets the chance to learn. In the past she has sponsored current club members to go to events to learn new styles of swing.
Mal and Trevor both served as club president during their time here before they graduated in 2019, got married, and moved to Kansas City. They both brought a lot of passion to the club and worked to make it the best it could possibly be. They still have a love for the club, as they occasionally visit. They still try to get out and dance when they get the chance.
McKenna was active in the club from 2013 until 2018 when she graduated. During this time she served as PR officer twice, and VP once. She graduated with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and now works in Oklahoma City, and takes every chance she can get to go to swing events. She enjoys dancing: Lindy, East Coast, Balboa, Blues, West Coast, Charleston, St. Louis Shag, Collegiate Shag, Zouk, solo Jazz and Fusion. She is also a part of the Swingout OKC Council.
Brent is still heavily active in the vintage swing world, and he occasionally comes back to share his Lindy skills. While Lindy Hop is his first love, he will happily dance Collegiate Shag, and Balboa (and unhappily dance West Coast). In the past he has offered dance scholarships to encourage club members to learn more about Swing, and he loves to teach about the history and origins of swing dance.
