Architectural Engineering Design 1 is a requirement of all students earning a degree in architectural engineering and provides a solid foundation for other students interested in learning more about design theory and application.

ArcE 203 will provide an introduction to the interation between architecture and the engineering disciplines. Theories of building and site design, technology as an integral component of design, plan and spatial organization, structural clarity, formal composition, and environmental context are considered as principle form determinents.

Course topics will focus on the design process, design theory, and relevant skills and techniques a student needs to develop a solid understanding of design.

This is a hands-on course. Students are expected to spend a minimum of 6 hours actively engaged in design lab activities.
