This week we'll check whether σ = My/I, the 1D Hooke's law, and the transformed-section method agree with experimental findings. You may not have noticed, but we try to go back and forth, using theory to determine properties one week and properties to check theory the next. The beams will be made from half aluminum and half stainless steel, bolted together with a uniaxial strain gage on both the top and bottom surfaces. |
