How to download high resolution images, and mathematical expressions
If you find a mathematical expression difficult to view, you may wish to click or tap on it. This may trigger the browser to download a higher resolution version of that expression, and display it in a new browser window, as illustrated below. In this new window, it should be easy to zoom-in, zoom-out, and pan the image, so you can view any part of it in high resolution. Details for this are given below.
Figures on web pages may be initially be low resolution, or blurry. This allows the page to load faster. Magnifying the images using conventional controls on your device may simply make it look like a big blurry image.
Click or tap on the image to download a higher resolution version of the image. This will show up in a new window, where it should be easy to zoom and pan, as described below.
There are four operations you can perform on an image when it is being displayed in a dedicated window, they are:
The zoom and pan operations can be triggered in many different ways. You can click/tap on the buttons shown in the table below, use keyboard arrow keys, use mouse buttons/wheels, or use gestures (pinch-zoom, tap-and-drag, etc.) commonly used on touch screens and mobile devices. The close and return-to-original-magnification operations can only be triggered by clicking on the appropriate buttons.
