Architectural Engineering Design 1

Fall 2002

Grading Criteria
Building Analysis - Library

Criteria Excellent Work = Average + Average Work Point Value
Structural System The system is fully documented numerically, graphically and with written comments. The probable reasons for the designer's selection of that systems are explained, with reference where possible to prior work of the team members.
Suggestions for improvements to the system are offered if appropriate.

Other Systems At least two other systems in the building are documented in the same way (though in less detail) as the major systems above. At least two one system in the building is documented in the same way (though in less detail) as the major systems above. 15
Organization & Presentation The web site is readily understood by both AE students and working professionals with easy navigation through the site and good use of Web capabilities such as links and graphics. The web site is clearly understood by AE students with easy navigation through the site.

Accurate URL submitted to Database on time.

Teamwork evaluation submitted to teamwork database.

10
Interaction Between Systmes At least two examples are given of the probable effects of one system selection on other systems. (e.g. the choice of a particular HVAC system influences the structural system). Comment is made on the implications of this interaction on an efficient design process. At least one example is given of the probable effects of one system selection on other systems. (e.g. the choice of a particular HVAC system influences the structural system). 10
Extra Credit Consider the probable design sequence of the building and how Engineers and Architects should work together to be both efficient and produce a superior product. Consider the new knowledge available about the Hazards to buildings of this type. Discuss what changes you would make to the systems to changes in the "threat" environment. 6
