Domestic Water

The domestic water system in Norwood Hall provides drinkable water from a source that is tied to the UMR campus water distribution system, which is
feed from Rolla utilities

 


The 4"diameter main pipe enters building trough north side of basement, and than it runs all the way to the attic. On its way down from the attic to the basement, water pipes are distributed trough out the building, supplying restrooms, water fountains, kitchen-sinks, and janitor-maintenance rooms.

For water distribution, a combination of steel pipes and cooper pipes were used respectively.

The waste lines are combination of Cast iron pipes and PVC. Waste lines are connected to waste system that feeds into the city utilities. Waste lines form laboratories are enviromentaly safe, (no toxic substances are used) and they are also connected to waste system that feeds in to city utilities.

Hot water is supplied individualy for every floor. All water heaters are electric heaters.
First floor has 5-gallon water heater which is placed in inernational office complex. Second andthird floor have 40-gallon water heaters which are placed in the restrooms.

Last major restoration was in 1989; all the restrooms have been renovated and contain new fixtures. Water fountains and restrooms are handicap accessible. Average maintenance cost for plumbing systems and fixtures for water use is estimated up to $5000. annually.
